Answered Prayers (Just not the way I expected!)

Missing the CWG writing conference here in Colorado Springs a few weekends ago was a huge disappointment! But after praying for months, I knew that if I couldn't attend, God would lead me in other directions. Two events have happened since:

I met a lady at work that has been a huge encouragement. She is helping me formulate a writing plan and has been an awesome mentor. She is a published author and has a wealth of information to share with me.

Just this weekend I was told about a writers group at my church! The next meeting is next Monday, March 9th and you can bet I will be there.

God is awesome and I can't thank Him enough for all the prayers He's answered on my writing journey!

Finish What You Start

This morning I decided to re-read "Write His Answer" by Marlene Bagnull. It fell open to the chapter "Finish What You Start".

Thank You God, that's exactly where I am right now. I've been on this journey so long and taken many side roads and detours. Now I am ready to finish!

I submitted my last assignment for the CWG course last week. It was a good course and I learned a lot! My thoughts are jumbled about how to proceed with the book and I am looking to the Lord for inspiration and answers.

I'm on vacation the next few days and plan to write my little heart out! :)

Finding the Best Time to Write

As I've mentioned, time management has never been one of my greatest strengths. I have such a desire to write but don't always find/take the time.

Since I started the Christian Writers Guild course, I'v had to create a writing schedule to make sure I turn assignments in on time. And it's kept me accountable.

This past week, I got up earlier in the mornings. My mind is fresh and ideas start to flow. Everyone is different but mornings seem to work best for me.

Colorado History

Colorado history has always facsinated me. I love to devour a colorful history book on this state and imagine what the people were like and how they survived without our modern conveniences. The tragic stories along with the triumphant ones fill my mind with writing ideas.

When I suffer from writers block, a history book will get the creative juices flowing again. I've even named some of my characters after people I've read about and enjoy creating several generations of a family for my stories.

Yielding to God

Writing is one of my heart's desires. But time management has always been an issue for me. Too many things vie for my time.

As I pour out my heart to God, He is so faithful to meet me in my struggles. I believe He has given me the desire to write and will help me make time as I yield to Him.

Early morning seems to be my best time to write. The house is quiet and my thoughts are fresh with the start of a new day.

The writing resume, essay and first two chapters of "A Healing Refuge" are coming along nicely. I plan to submit them to Christian Writers Guild soon.

After a few rest stops, my writing journey is back on track.

God Answers in Awesome Ways!

I've been praying all week about taking the course through the Christian Writers Guild.

At a training course at work yesterday, we were reminded that we are all on a Great Adventure. And to achieve our dreams we often times must take risks.

My devotion this morning read "Therefore, what You are commanding me today is not too difficult for me or beyond my reach." Deut 30:11

God will strengthen me and lead me on this writing journey as I yield my thoughts and ways to Him.

Writing Course

I'm seriously thinking of applying for the Journeyman level writing course at Christian Writers Guild.

To apply I must submit a writing resume, two chapters of my novel and a 500 word essay stating why I want to be admitted to the course. And of course a nonrefundable application fee.

What do I have to lose?
